The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service’s Diplomatic Ball is an annual black tie affair uniting students, distinguished faculty, and diplomats from around the world for an elegant evening of conversation and community-building. Inaugurated in 1925, it has been known at various times as the Diplomat’s Ball and the Ball of Nations, but its purpose has always been to bring together individuals passionate about international affairs.

Taking place every spring at a prestigious location in Washington, D.C., the Diplomatic Ball is one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year.  The Diplomatic Ball has recently been held in venues such as the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the Embassy of the Republic of France, the Old Postal Pavilion, the National Building Museum, and most recently the Mellon Auditorium.
