2012 Academic Programs

Protocol Workshop

In April 2012, Ambassador Capricia Penavic Marshall, Chief of Protocol of the United States, joined Professor Anthony Arend (MSFS Program Director), the Diplomatic Ball Planning Committee, and Georgetown students for an afternoon of learning and conversation about diplomatic protocol. Sharing general rules of protocol and fascinating anecdotes from her time as President Clinton’s White House Social Secretary and as President Obama’s Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Marshall helped students prepare for the Diplomatic Ball and their future careers in international affairs. This program brought students behind the scenes of protocol, an integral aspect of successful diplomacy.
